I’ve spent way more time on sailboats than powerboats, but when it comes to on-the-water-badassness, I’m finding it harder and harder to discriminate. And after dipping my toe into the dark, mysterious, and intoxicatingly supercharged world of ultra-high performance powerboats, the collaboration between Cigarette Racing and Mercedes-AMG is causing my pulse to quicken and my eye to wander.
So, when I found out that the new Mercedes-AMG GT S and the Cigarette Racing 50′ Marauder GT S Concept were going to be unveiled at the Miami Boat Show, I was intrigued.
I’m intrigued by such powerful boats. And I’m intrigued by American-built boats with fast hulls, powerful engines and a Big Red 1 in their logo.
So, I’m gonna see what all the hubbub is all about in person at the Miami International Boat Show (if I can escape from snowbank-city here in Boston).
I mean, variety is the spice of life, right? In fact, if driving a Cigarette boat is anything like shooting a shotgun at some clay pigeons on a wonderfully luxurious beach at a wonderfully luxurious resort in the Caribbean, this peace-loving, pro-gun-control pacificist of an offshore sailor may really like it.
